Originally planning to pursue art school, Magdalena's life took an unexpected turn toward the tech industry. Despite her degree in marketing and communications, she's found her passion working in tech sales.

“I love the challenge that the sales field gives me. I can still be my outgoing self with a bit of a technical aspect to it,” says Magdalena, describing her experience as part of the Equinix sales team. She emphasizes that being authentic is celebrated and valued within the company. Her positive experience with Equinix is fueled by her strong support system, employee resource group and network of mentors.

Magdalena thrives in Equinix's culture that values inclusivity, innovation and connection. She believes that every employee who joins the company has “the magic of Equinix” in them. Equinix’s strong company culture fosters a sense of community and support, where employees can bring their whole self to work and feel valued. “Being authentic is celebrated here, and I can’t say enough good things about it,” states Magdalena. When you join Equinix, you’re joining a company that truly values you being you.

Magdalena’s passion for inclusivity extends beyond her work. She's a founding member of GenteConnect, an Equinix Employee Connection Network (EECN) that empowers and elevates Latino/Hispanic employees alongside allies around the world. GenteConnect provides a sense of family and belonging for employees who may be far from their actual families. It also encourages allyship and understanding of the Latino/Hispanic culture. The group also offers developmental programs, including language lessons and professional development opportunities. “It’s a labor of love because it doesn’t feel like work. It feels like a community,” says Magdalena.

GenteConnect is more than just a group, it's a community of support and growth. Magdalena's involvement in the group has allowed her to develop her skills, find a sense of belonging, and give back to her fellow employees. “We want to make sure we leave a legacy for others, because this initiative is just starting out. It's a team effort where everybody does a little bit of everything in order to help the group succeed,” she says.

Magdalena also loves to give back to her community by volunteering her time and skills to worthy causes. She participated in Equinix's booth at the 2022 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, where she spoke with attendees about Equinix's mission and values. She also shared her own experiences and insights as a Latina woman working in the tech industry, and connected with other women in the field who shared her passion for technology and social impact.

Magdalena's dedication to volunteering and making a positive impact in her community is a testament to her leadership and status as a role model in her field. She embodies Equinix's values of inclusivity, innovation and connection, and has found success in her career by staying true to herself. “The magic lies where you step outside of your comfort zone and put yourself out there,” she concludes. We couldn’t agree more.
